Professional Experience
Mr. Beard was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in May 1989. He came to Flowers Davis, P.L.L.C. from the law firm of Wellborn, Houston, Adkison, Mann, Sadler & Hill, L.L.P. in Henderson, Texas where he initially served as an Associate Attorney and, later, as a Partner for seven years. Mr. Beard has had a varied practice on both sides of the docket involving general civil litigation, personal injury, family law, corporate and business law, oil and gas law, appellate law and probate law, among others. His practice is currently focused on general civil litigation, and oil and gas law.
Educational Background
Mr. Beard completed his undergraduate studies at Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas, and then attended the University of Houston School of Pharmacy, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in May 1979. After practicing as a Registered Pharmacist (R. Ph.) for seven years, he studied law at the Baylor University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in February 1989. During law school, Mr. Beard was a member of the Baylor Order of Barristers, the Harvey M. Richey Moot Court Society and the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity. He was also active in the Baylor University School of Law Moot Court Competition and was on the school’s Honors List.

Mr. Beard is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Appellate Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Smith County Bar Association, the Texas Pharmaceutical Association and the American Pharmaceutical Association.
Personal Information
Mr. Beard was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on February 12, 1956. He lives in Whitehouse, Texas with his four children: Mallory, Maggie, Micah and Macen.
In addition to the duties and obligations of his practice, Mr. Beard has been active in providing legal services pro bono to the County Court at Law In and For Rusk County, Texas, as an ad litem for minor children in a variety of family law and domestic dispute proceedings. He has also served informally in such matters, both with courts and with the Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services/Child Protective Services, in situations involving minor children where there are allegations of neglect or abuse. Mr. Beard has also donated legal advice and services for the welfare and benefit of animals, most notably as a board member and committee member of Rusk County Animal Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit organization actively involved in the protection, care and adoption of animals in need.
