Professional Experience
Melanie S. Reyes was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2003. After graduating from law school in 2002, Ms. Reyes served as a Briefing Attorney to the Honorable Justice Michael H. Schneider of the Texas Supreme Court from 2002 to 2003. Thereafter, Ms. Reyes was employed with the Dallas firm Thompson & Knight L.L.P. and practiced in the Litigation department focusing in the areas of oil and gas, antitrust, appellate, and intellectual property law. Ms. Reyes joined the firm of Flowers Davis in September, 2004 and now practices primarily in the areas of oil and gas, condemnation, and appellate law.
Educational Background
Ms. Reyes received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Oklahoma State University/Langston in 1999. She graduated from the University of Tulsa, College of Law in 2002. During law school, Ms. Reyes served as the Articles Editor of the Tulsa Law Review, and was an active member in the Native Americans Law Students Association. Ms. Reyes graduated in the top 10% of her class and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Legal Writing and Research, Civil Procedure II, International Business Transactions, and Interviewing, Counseling, and Negotiating.
Professional Organizations
Ms. Reyes has completed the National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s California Coast Deposition Program, is a member of the American Bar Association, and the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section. Ms. Reyes is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
